Grooming My Dog

There are some things I really wish I knew about grooming my dog when I first got him. Luckily these days, after learning the long and hard way in my early days of being a pet owner, grooming my dog has become something I and my pet have both started enjoying. With some simple tips you can stop the dread of grooming your dog and also get to a point whoever grooms your dog can breeze through it which your dog will enjoy too and the whole family will appreciate.

Grooming My Dog

When grooming my dog I ensure that I am in a relaxed mood and have some time on my hands so that I don’t have to rush through the process and get frustrated. When you are in a relaxed mood then your dog will also be more calm. When grooming my dog I also ensure that all the items that I will be using are in reach so that I don’t need to leave my dog unattended and also that I groom my dog in a safe place. Another good tip is if you use a bath you can put down a rubber mat so that your pet can stand firmly and confident.

Grooming My Dog Concluded

I had a dog parlour grooming my dog but all the products, tools and accessories they use are available to the general public too. When grooming my dog I insist on using the best products that are available. Not every pet is the same and you will soon realize which products work. If grooming my dog isn’t going well for the both of you, it’s best to stop and give it a  try on another day. Your pet can grow a fear of water or worst case scenario of you. If you require any assistance with grooming your pet, you can give PetzRush a call.

Grooming a German Shepherd

If you are the owner of a beautiful German Shepherd you may already know that grooming a German Shepherd requires quite a lot of work to keep this breed not only looking good but also in a good state of health. German Shepherds tend to be out and about and aren’t exactly the indoor type of dog, therefore grooming a German Shepherd needs to also be done more frequently, with a double coat and a large amount of long hair your grooming techniques and routines will vary greatly compared to a short haired breed such as a Labrador.

Grooming a German Shepherd

Grooming a German Shepherd should happen every 2 – 3 months. This involves a good shampoo and conditioner, ear cleaning, oral hygiene and nail clipping. These dogs are usually very active and their nails will wear naturally most of the time but we still need to keep an eye open for long nails. At home groom a German Shepherd by running a brush through his/her coat can be done 4 – 5 times a week. This may seem like a lot but will keep shedding to a minimum and also make your trips to the grooming parlour further apart.

Grooming a German Shepherd Concluded

A lot of people are under the impression that grooming a German Shepherd can be a tedious task. If you start grooming a German Shepherd from a young age, are relaxed, have a safe place to groom your pet and do this regularly you will build up a trust between your yourself and your dog and your grooming sessions can be flawless. It is also important to remember that a sufficient flea and tick treatment is applied as parasites do enjoy the warmth and protection of a breed with this specific coat. Grooming a Labrador

Owning a Labrador means that you are the proud owner of the most popular dog breed in South Africa. This lovely breed has been a blessing to many families and continues to grow into everyone’s heart. Apart from their loving and protective personalities that make this a great family pet, grooming a Labrador is fairly simple too and their low grooming requirements is a another great reason to consider owning one of these great breeds. Large breed dogs are normally difficult in this department but Labrador owners and groomers will also agree that grooming a Labrador can be easy work.

Grooming a Labrador

To make grooming a Labrador easier, especially when they are fully grown adults… you need to start grooming your Labrador from a young age. Labradors love being outdoors and this means they can get dirty quickly but grooming a Labrador is only required every 3 months, that is the full shampoo and conditioning of course. If you brush your Labradors coat twice a week this will reduce the amount of hair they shed, get rid of dirt stimulate and distribute the natural oils that their coat provides. Whilst grooming a Labrador this is also a great opportunity to check for any parasites, skin condition and any lumps or growths that should not be present.

Grooming a Labrador Concluded

Grooming a Labrador is not only about keeping their coats shiny and having a nice smelling pet. Clipping nails, cleaning ears and treating your Labrador for parasites are all vital for your Labradors health and well being. This breed appreciates a lot of attention from their owners so whilst grooming a Labrador take this time to bond with him/her and build up trust between yourselves. Your Labrador is not the only member of your family that will enjoy a good grooming but something that the whole family can take part in and enjoy.
